RadioActive 1.4.0
=================

RadioActive is a GTKmm-based radio program for radio tuner cards
supported by the Video4Linux system. It is written by Gerg rdi
<cactus@cactus.rulez.org>. Check out
http://cactus.rulez.org/projects/radioactive/ for up-to-date information.

Requirements
------------
RadioActive requires a Video4Linux-enabled kernel. This appeared
sometime in the 2.1 series, but anything newer than 2.2.0 should work
just fine.
Besides the kernel, you'll also need the GNOME 1.4 bundle. The panel
applet version also needs the PanelMM library, available at
http://cactus.rulez.org/projects/panelmm/

Installation
------------
Untar the RadioActive source tarball somewhere, and start the
'configure' script:

 $ tar xzvf radioactive-1.4.0.tar.gz
 $ cd radioactive-1.4.0
 $ ./configure
 $ make

See the INSTALL file for general help on the `configure' script.
If everything went fine, you can install and try it:

 $ make install
 $ radioactive

Usage
=====
RadioActive can be used in three ways:

From the command-line
---------------------
This is the default mode of operation when the X Window System is not
running. You can also force command-line mode with the --cmdline
switch.

When no command-line arguments are given, RadioActive turns on the
radio tuner and restores the last radio frequency used.
The following command-line switches can be used:

  -f, --freq=FREQ             Set frequency
  -d, --device=DEVFILE        Set Video4Linux device filename
  -c, --cmdline               Force command-line-only interface
  -m, --mute Mute the radio device and exit

Stand-alone GUI application
---------------------------
If you start RadioActive from an X Window session, unless you include
the --cmdline switch, the graphical interface of RadioActive is
shown. Use the slider on the right to set the frequency, and the
buttons beneath it can be used to fine-tune stations. The numbered
buttons on the right are used for accessing stored stations. To store
a station, tune to its frequency and right-click on a station button,
or use the Preferences dialog.

To change the number of stations, the radio device used, and other
options, right-click the RadioActive window, and click on
Preferences. The second page can be used to assign names to each radio
station: this name is displayed in the tooltips of the station buttons.

Panel applet
------------
The radioactive_applet executable is built if the PanelMM library is
found by the `configure' script. After installation is done, it is
available from the Applets/Multimedia menu in the GNOME Panel.

The left and right arrows change to the previous/next stored
channel. The central number is the currently tuned station's
number. The tool-tip of this label shows the currently tuned station's
name and frequency. The main window and the preferences dialog can be
accessed via the right-click menu.

Keyboard control
----------------
You can use the following keys in the main window:
q	Close window (exits from standalone mode)
m	Toggle muting
1..0	Change to the specified programmed station (0 is station nr. 10);
