Ppower, short for 'Penguin Power', is a piece of software for controlling
x10 home automation equipment connected to the computer via a cm11a
interface. It can be used to turn things on and off and lights dim and
bright. In addition to controlling the x10 devices, it can receive commands
sent to the x10 devices from other sources such as an x10 remote transceiver
and execute commands on your system in response.

This system is designed to need very few resources and should not create
excess disk noise. Ideally, the daemon would be started at boot then
forgotten. Ppower was designed as an alternative to the heyu and xtend
combination as they seemed to be too resource intensive to leave running at
all times.

Ppower uses GNU autoconf, so installing should be as simple as ./configure;
make; make install. See the INSTALL file for tips.

If this is your first install, edit the sample configuration in
etc/ppower.conf and put it in the configuration dir (/usr/local/etc unless
you specified a --prefix to configure). You probably will want to at least
remove the example macros and change the DEVICE and ALIAS settings.
