                *** XFHELL FONT SYSTEM ***

xfhell uses its own Hellschreiber font files and it cannot use
System or X11 fonts. Font files are stored in the directory
<home>/xfhell/fonts/ and they are of two basic types, standard
14-point Hellschreiber fonts and modified 12-point fonts. They
are stored respectively in the 14pt/ and 12pt/ sub-directories,
and the files names are subject to some rules which enable xfhell
to automatically load a suitable font file for a given Mode and
Baud rate.

Both 12-point and 14-point fonts are available in two size types,
Fat (e.g. wide Glyphs (characters) with fat outlines, useful in
poor operating conditions) and Narrow (e.g. narrow Glyphs with
slim outlines, useful in good conditions as they speed up
transmission). Additionally, there is at least one special Low-
resolution 12-point font file required by the low-bandwidth
105-Baud FM Hell mode. All font files are Adobe BDF format.

As mentioned earlier, xfhell automatically loads a default font
file suitable for the selected Mode and Baud rate. These files
must exist as described below for xfhell to function:

For FeldHell, a font file called FeldFatEn.bdf in the 14pt/
sub-directory is loaded for 122.5 Baud and its sub-multiple
rates available in xfhell (e.g. 61.25 Baud and lower). For
the 105.0 Baud rate, a file called FeldFatEn.bdf in the 12pt/
sub-directory is loaded.

For FMHell at 105.0 Baud, a file called FMFatLoEn.bdf is
loaded from the 12pt/ sub-directory.

In summary, the files called FeldFatEn.bdf in the 12pt/ and 14pt/
sub-directories and the file called FMFatLoEn.bdf in the 12pt/
sub-directory must be available for xfhell to function.
