This issue has been hashed over megatimes in this newsgroup, and apologies in
advance, I have to waste a little bandwidth on my $0.02 worth...

   1. This is an alt. group making it fairly anarchic
   2. Many of of appreciate being made aware of CD vendors here. By popular
demand, most of these responsible parties have confined their posts to
catalog information (how to get one) rather than the catalogs themselves..
      a fair negotiated settlement IMHO.
   3. No matter how loud you scream, the commercial free internet will be gone
once the phone/CATV companies get their hands on it..and we will long for
the days when all the fine information about hardware and software we
couldnt care less about was punctuated by a few vendors (and of course the
posts with information dear to us <g>)
   4. <FLAME ON>
I notice that you, (like myself) are coming to us live from a .com
domain. Our company dollars in addition to our tax dollars are fundin
g
access. I wholeheartedly agree that encroaching commercialism isnt a
good thing, but I dont believe that ads in an alt group geared toward
specific products is a bad thing.
      <FLAME OFF>
   5. ...just dont get me started on the folks who discard the little informatio
n
sheet the LISTSERV sends you telling how to unsubscribe and bother me with
their posts to the list...I find that more of a pain than the ads...<g>
