Question about my CD-ROM and different formats Date: Mon, 28 Feb 94 22:47:38 EST Organization: Cybernet BBS, Boca Raton, Florida Lines: 22 Message-ID: <4PPHic1w165w@cybernet.cse.fau.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: cybernet.cse.fau.edu Hello I was given a CD-ROM drive by my office as they had if for tax research and no longer have need for it. I am a little confused as I am a Multimedia newbie. The drive is a Toshiba TXM3301E1. The basic specs are as follows: It reads HIGH SIERRA and ISO9600 formats, built in SCSI-II interface, avg transfer rate of 150kb/sec, avg access time of 325msec, formatted capacity of 600MB, data block size: mode-1: 2048; mode-2: 2336 bytes. Is this compatible with MPC standards? I don't understand the definition of that. IS MPC in ISO9600 format? I realize hat the transfer rate is not fast, but does that prohibit the programs from working, or jsut slow them down? For instance, could I use Street Atlas or Encarta and just have to wait a little longer? Any help would be greatly aprpeciated. I got this wonderful? drive and would like to get some software to use with it. Thanks. Ricky
