If you just plan to use you Toshiba with it, it is quite sufficient.
(ok also for MO drives or tapes)

But if you imagine that -a day- you would connect a Syquest/bernouilli
or a hard drive, go for at least a 1522.

Another good deal, is the SoundBlaster16-SCSI2 : it is an SB16 + AHA1510
So if you do not have already a sound card and plan to get 
multimedia CDROM, it is quite interresting.
