So here it is for those of you who are interested. Quantum Gate is an interactive movie with a good story line, excellent editing and a surprise ending. It is set up so that a couple of sequels could follow! Set in the future, with the world close to a pollution caused armageddon, you are placed in another planet which possesses a rare mineral that can be used to clean up the earth's atmosphere. Of course things are not what they seem to be and as events unfold you get drawn into the plot. The viewer is allowed to interact at different stages of the story, with different dialog choices. However the flexibility is limited and your choice of alternatives do not really alter to story line or the ending. This is CD is interesting in its attempt to bring interactivity to a movie. However it has the failing of being about the length of a movie. About 2 hours of play maximum. Replaying the cd is like watching a movie the second time; not too thrilling. I think the current retail price (around $ 50) is too much considering the alternatives available to gamers. However, if you can get it used on the net, it would be a worthwhile purchase. The experience is really unique and the production quality is slick. Regards, Ravi Vaidyanathan Northeastern State University
