I got that error right before the DMA chip on my motherboard went
south. I ended up replacing the motherboard (had to send it away
for a month's repair.) Either you've got a bad memory chip, or some
other low-level board problem.

If you have simms, try switching them around. If you get the one with the
bad chip into the first meg bank, you should be able to get this error
running DOS.
