Using the Microsoft CDSPEED benchmark my 3xi (connected to an
SB16/SCSI-2) produced very dfferent results with CD caching turned on
and off in SMARTDRV.  With caching off, the 3xi could hit 445 KB/sec
sequentially and about 300 KB/sec wiith random reads.  With caching
turned on it flipped to 350 KB/sec sequential and over 600 KB/sec
random.
