First, I am assuming "n york" is New York, NY, and not North
York, England. If I'm wrong, you can safely press 'n' now.

I have found the best CD-ROM prices in NYC to be at J&R
Computer World on Park Row South in Manhattan. You can get there via
the number 4, 5, or 6 trains (Brooklyn Bridge stop) or the 2, 3, A, B,
C, D, J, M, N, Q, R, or Z trains (Broadway-Nassau/Fulton St. stop).
Its right across the street from the City Hall complex.

J&R is usually (not always) a few dollars cheaper than Egghead
Software, even if you have an Egghead "Cue" card (a 5% discount card
which you can get in-store at the cash register; no fee for the card).
This being said, neither of these places have what I'd call bargain
basement prices. I'd love to hear about other places in the New York
area that are cheaper. Anyone?

As far as computer hardware goes (i.e. CD-ROM drives), you'll
do much better price-wise by buying a copy of Computer Shopper and
looking for the cheapest prices in there. You say you'll be in the
area for a month, so track down a reputable distributor with good
prices and buy mail-order. You'll save a bundle compared to any place
I've seen in the city. You might even get a deal which bundles
several CD titles along with the drive.

I don't visit the Public Libraries that often, but I'd be very
suprised if they carried *any* CD-ROM titles.
