Hello,

    Ummm.... your method of solving the maze will work, but why not look
at the carpet pattern in the first room on the right once you take a
left on the top of the stairs. It's the room that has the four bishops
puzzle. The pattern on the carpet is actually the basement maze! The
start and finish are on the right edge of the carpet. The start is the
lower of the two.
