Position: Coordinator for Information Technology.  Tenure track, faculty
      position, annual appointment.

Starting Date:  July 1, 1994

Job Responsibilities: Reports to the Dean of Library and Learning Resources.
      Oversees and coordinates the daily operation, maintenance, and
      upgrades of the Library's NOTIS automation system.  Serves as a liaison
      between the library and the computer center on information technology-
      related issues.  Supports the library's microcomputer-based
      applications for users and staff.  Participates in staff training.
      Provides technical expertise in telecommunications and networking.
      Participates in policy and operational decisions on all aspects of
      library automation system and on other issues related to electronic
      information delivery and office automation.  Provides leadership in
      further enhancing library services through innovative use of available
      technology.  Performs special project assignments and other related
      duties as appropriate.

Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS or MS in information technology required.
      Second Master's degree or a specialist degree, or Ph.D is also
      required for tenure. (individuals with a MLS or MS degree in a relevant
      field with excellent practical experience may be considered for
      academic staff position leading to an indefinite appointment.)  Relevant
      professional experience in the maintenance of integrated library
      automation system.  Expertise in microcomputer-base applications,
      telecommunications and networking.  Familiarity with application of
      information technology in library services.  Good interpersonal,
      organizational and analytical skills.  Good oral and written
      communication skills.

Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor or higher, salary competitive, depending
      upon qualifications and experience.

The University and Library and Learning Resources: University of Wisconsin-
      Whitewater is comprised of four colleges (Business and Economics,
      Education, Letters and Sciences, and Arts).  The University offers
      baccalaureate degrees in 60 fields and graduate degrees in select
      areas.  It is located 45 miles from Madison, 50 miles from Milwaukee,
      and 110 miles from Chicago with easy access to cultural, educational
      and recreational activities.  The Library and Learning Resources serves
      over 600 faculty and academic staff and 10,400 students.  It has a
      collection of over 400,000 volumes, 5000 serial subscriptions, with a
      staff of 44 FTE and about 100 student assistants.
