The SB16 doesn't say on the box if it is the BASIC or MCD version, but it did include a microphone and some CD- ROM drivers, therefore it does look like an MCD version. The Sony CD-ROM comes with a 38 pin cable while the SB16 has a 40 pin socket. I have no problem hooking my Panasonic 562 to my SB16 BASIC since both have a 40 pin interface, but how is my friend supposed to plug the Sony 38 pin with the SB16 40 pin? Does anyone know? Is it just a matter of plugging it the right way (2 choices only)? Can my friend rewire the 38 pins into a compatible 40 pin layout, what's the wiring scheme then? I think I once heard about some Sony interface board which is supposed to be installed between the Sony and the SB16. Possible? $15? My friend can also buy an independent interface board for the Sony for approximately $15, but if the Sony can work with the SB16, it is understandable that he'd rather go that way. Plus we don't know yet if that interface board is still locally available. Any tips/info would be greatly appreciated and will deserve my friend's eternal gratitude! Thanks in advance, Franky
