Since, because of the temporary loss of the alt.cdrom link from Finland,
I have the attention of only CDROM-L subscribers, I would like to clarify
the future of CDROM-L.

CDROM-L will remain available. However, the site hosting CDROM-L is
leaving Bitnet. This means that subscribers will not be able to send to
CDROM-L unless they use the Internet address of CDROM-L@ucop.edu or
through a Bitnet gateway, if a subscriber is only on Bitnet (ask your
local computing consultants about this if you have questions).

For listserv administrative functions, you must send to listserv@ucop.edu
*
If your address is something like userid@xxx.yyy, that is, with a "."
in the machine name, you don't have to do anything. If your address is
something like userid@zzzzzzz or userid@zzzzzzz.bitnet, you will have to
have an Internet style address, that is, with the "." in order to receive
mail. This can be through a Bitnet gateway.

I am sorry for the confusion and all of this technical jargon, but
it's difficult to explain in terms which mean anything to normal human
beings. If you have questions, ask me by e-mail.
