Adaptec boards (if you purchase the kit) come with EZSCSI -- which is
basically a convenient packaging of Adaptec ASPI drivers for the board,
cd-rom, and non-bios support drives.  EZSCSI is for DOS/Microsoft
Windows -- other operating system would need software specific to the
OS.

OS/2, for instance, ships with everything you would need bundled with the
OS.

The one thing you would need to be careful of is that your Scanner would
need to support the ASPI interface in order to share the adapter board
with other drivers (CD-ROM, Hard drive, tape, etc).
