NEC doesn't supply the cable because they don't know what you'll be
using for a sound card, sound cards typically have custom connectors,
and they don't seem to expect that their customers will have the level
of technical competence required to push three wires into a connector.
However, that doesn't excuse NEC's customer service, which I will
agree is among the worst in the business.

You might try calling the manufacturer of the sound card instead. I
called MediaVision when I got my 3Xi, spent just a minute or two on
the phone with them (after being on hold for half an hour on the NEC
customer service line before giving up) and had a cable to connect it
to my PAS-16 2 days later. If you're using your sound card's SCSI
support you'll need a driver from the sound card manufacturer
anyway...
