Lenny,
I use this combination myself(3401B and SB 16 SCSI) with excellent success. The 
SB card contains an ADAPTEC 1520 chip and includes the ADAPTEC EZ SCSI setup 
software. It works quite well and is very fast. Audio is much improved over the 
older SB adapters.
You really need the extra speed for most of the new games. Single-speed just 
doesn't cut it.
