Things seemed to go well at first. It started up, the sound (both music and speech) sounded good. The video looked good also. However, a few minutes into the introduction (after the scene at a bar where the man gives the doll to the bartender) the game hangs, and a reboot is required. The book says that such a hang is probably due to conflicts in DMA/interrupt settings, so I'm going to try to fix it by analyzing them, But in the meantime I remember a message on the network describing a similar problem, and would like to know if indeed the problem was solved by changing the interrupts, etc. I have lots of other multimedia software, and my settings work fine for all of it, so I didn't think I would run into this problem. The tests that are run at installation report that my cdrom and video performance both exceed the highest expected values. In case anyone has the same hardware I do, could you please tell me what your settings are? Mine: 486DX2/66 Micronics VLB mother board ATI Graphics Ultra Pro Local Bus video card (1 megabyte) Pro Audio Spectrum 16 soundcard (w/SCSI interface) Toshiba 3401 internal CDROM drive Maxtor 7213 IDE hard drive I have a copy of the technical FAQ from the net, but I thought I'd ask in case anyone has a quick fix for this. Thanks for listening. Layne -- Layne Jensen jensen@nosc.MIL NCCOSC R&D Division (NRaD) ...!sdcsvax!noscvax!jensen San Diego, CA
