I was under the impression that I had a 3Xi.  This is what the Linux
SCSI driver reports:

	MODEL: NEC CD-ROM:500     REVSION: 1.0
                   ANSI SCSI REVISION: 2.0

Do I have a 3Xi?  Do I have a 3X drive at all?  Can anyone help me out
I'd like to get this straightened out ASAP.
