The cdfs driver isn't involved, in all likelihood. The HP-UX boot discs are also not ISO-9660. They are hfs with a boot block within a LIF header. I still have the first experimental HP-UX 8.0 boot CD (WORM). as I recall, there were some funky things that needed to be done in terms of block sizes in the filesystem, and internal flags marking it as a read-only FS, but other than that, it worked with the standard boot ROMs, LIF support and HFS support.
