Date: 12 Jun 1994 14:47:37 GMT Organization: University of Massachusetts at Boston Lines: 28 Message-ID: NNTP-Posting-Host: eris.cs.umb.edu I've got the CD-ROM drive. My housemate wants to run Quicken. I *don't* want to run Quicken. The Quicken CD-ROM has a lot of neat stuff on it that isn't on the floppy version, and costs less than buying the pieces separately. So, we're wondering, can we buy Quicken on CD-ROM, copy the primary software onto his HD, and just use my computer to watch the videos and browse the extras? Notice that we only want to run each part of the package on one machine. We're talking about one user using one copy of the software, and we only want one copy of each package installed (the Quicken and Quicken Companion packages on his system, the CD browser on mine.) Assuming that you trust us to Do The Right Thing morally, can we do this technically? Moving the CD drive to his machine or his HD to my machine, even temporarily, is not an option; we'd have to use floppies or dialup. thanks, Betsy -- System Administrator Internet: betsys@cs.umb.edu MACS Dept, UMass/Boston Phone : 617-287-6448 100 Morrissey Blvd Staccato signals Boston, MA 02125-3393 of constant information....
