Sorry to break in on this thread, but this is semi-related, sorta:

I have about 90 CD programs (games, apps, etc.) and have NEVER had a lick
of problems with my discs. Yesterday I attempted to reinstall the game
INCA on my hard drive to show a friend. I couldn't read the disc. I
couldn't even get a directory. I tried other CDs and they worked fine. I
put INCA back in and nothing. Changed drivers, and nothing. It used to
work fine. I gave the disc to my friend to try on his computer, and he
reported the same results. He then cleaned the disc and reported seeing a
pronounced scratch on the disc. Don't know how it got there, but it
apparently wiped out the track that reads the disc directory.

To make a long story short, is there any way to fix a CD scratch? I've
heard people talk about applying different things, from car wax to
vegetable oil. I'd rather not try until hearing from others. Any suggestions?

SAM
