As several folks have mentioned, this is not supposed to be happening on the Internet. It costs many of us money, and it saturates the group with posts which I believe a large percentage of us don't care about. Some have suggested responding to these with angry e-mail. This may help. Note, however, that these commercial ads typically have an 800 order line. I suggest that those of us located such that we can call these numbers at no cost to ourselves, do so and politely let these net-abusers know how we feel at *their* expense.
