You have a CD-ROM drive WITHOUT a sound card? Why? It's like having a car
with black windows - it works, but only after a fashion!

To answer your question, the headphone output will allow you to hear CD Audio
- that is, sound recorded as an audio track. There are lots of shareware
applets that allow you to play audio CDs. Try an ftp to CICA or WALNUT CREEK.

However, most sound contained as part of a CD APPLICATION is embedded or is
a separate .WAV file and can only be heard through a sound card. Do get one
- you're missing a lot!
