I'd like to introduce Adam Levy to the readers of this
alt.cd-rom newsgroup. Adam is 13 years old and reviews game CD's for
config.sys, Inc. It was suggested that we have a youth reviewer to
create unbiased reviews of games since who better to review games then
an interested young advanced student. It is our hope that you find
his game reviews of interest. Any mail or comments to him may be sent
to the addresses below and will be forwarded by me.
The following was extracted from our fido config.sys echo for
your information. Enjoy!

        Joe

Title: Giga Games CDROM
Publisher: Walnut Creek CDROM
Megabytes: 440

The most complete collection of games for IBM is here and there is
something for anyone. Whether you are looking for DOS games, or
Windows games, you are bound to find something on this CD. You can
even find little utility files that help you beat your commercial
games. In the DOS area, there are demo's, arcade games, adventure
games ("open door" "pick up sword"), board games, educational games,
sound utilities, graphics, over 30 directories in all in just the
MS-DOS area! In the Windows area, there is a considerably less amount
of games, due to the fact that there are just more DOS games. But both
sections are great.

Now for the disappointments. The retrieval system could use more than
JUST a little work. You choose what you want, choose a directory on
your hard drive, and it unzips it for you. You end up in DOS. So if
you want to get multiples of files, you get to go back into the viewer
a lot. I thought this was annoying. Also, if you are looking for a
selection of up-to-date software, you should know that this was
produced in May of 1993. But, to make up for this, I should also
mention, that the stuff on this disc is stuff that had a release date,
or a new version, dating around May 1993.

Something I found interesting was the space on this disc dedicated to
FAQ's (frequently asked questions). Megabytes on UseNet, Internet,
and many other items. And there was a good selection of text files.
A good portion of them actually belonged in the utility directory
(those utilities are just editors that give you extra lives, or text
files that tell you how to solve games).

For you sysops out there wondering, this IS a BBS ready list, with a
lot of descriptions with more than 1 line. There is setup software
for some bbs programs, but I looked, and it didn't have some for all
types. But overall, this disc definitely gets an A+.

I highly recommend this disc for anyone who is looking to have a
little fun in there spare time using their CD-ROM drive. Get it!
