olivier_thizy@hp6300.desk.hp.com asks about VideoCDs. I've not only seen
several, I've helped to create three titles (eight discs in all) so far.

VideoCDs are a new standard developed by Philips & JVC to supply up to about
72 minutes of compressed "full screen" video & audio on standard CD-ROM/XA
discs. MPEG-1 compression is used. The standard for VideoCD is called the
"White Book".

Currently, Philips is producing a DigitalVideo cartridge for CD-i players
capable of decoding VideoCDs. JVC produces Karaoke players compatible with
this standard. At the October World-of-Commodore-Amiga (WOCA) Show in Pasadena,
a VideoCD compatible cartridge for CD32 was demonstrated.

I do not know of any such boards out yet for any personal computer or other
multimedia box; however, both 3DO & Jaguar are rumored to be bringing out
cartridges sometime late this year or next year.

Hope this answers your question.
