We are looking into buying about 20 CD-ROM drives that can be
interfaced with an 8-bit processor (68HC11). Speed is not an
issue with us, obviously, we just need to access the data.

Does anyone know of any drive companies that have drives with
parallel or serial interfaces and who will provide us with
the hw/sw interface specs (commands to read data, etc)? 
I have read of several companies with "proprietary" interfaces
for PCs. How willing are companies to share this information?
