Actually it is not very complicated to use a CD R as back up but the
investment can be quite large.  If you are looking for permanent
storage you might look into service centers that do this thing....ie
me.  We convert QIC tapes to CD ROM for $50 plus shipping  and have
two day turnaround times.  You would have to make about 150 CDs to
break even at this price.
