Basically, the problem is that if you mess up the balance by placing your
label off center, your CD isn't going to spin right.  There are companies
that make CD-ROMs that you can burn yourself that have an area that you
can write on (it's a white surface that felt pens can leave a mark on).
My company didn't buy them because they were only ~550MB (?) and some
other company had 660MB ones that were the same price.  I would like to
see all companies that make CD-ROMs make the top surface of the CD-ROM
something that can be written on.  It would make it easier to label what
exactly you have.  (labeling the box it comes in doesn't work because if
you ever put the wrong CD in the wrong box, etc.)  I guess that you could
have the top surface of the CD-ROM etched, but do you trust they person
etching it not to leave finger prints on or scratch the bottom surface?
