I installed a multimedia kit in my brothers PC, and running the game "The 7th Guest", it locks up at times (regularly). There is a sequence in the game, that shows a "ghost" that speaks (gives clues). During this sequence, the speech gets broken up and most often locks the computer up. Calls to the "7th Guest" manufacter isn't much help. They feel that the 386/40 isn't fast enough, but is it worth installing a $400 motherboard on their "guess"? Also, some of the other games and such, will at times appear to read from the CD very slowly. I am not positive of the brand, but I do remember the "FX Multimedia" label when I installed it. Has a 350K/sec drive, and 16 bit sound card. He is running a 386/40, SVGA, 250meg IDE, 4 meg RAM, dual floppies, OAK 037, VGA with OAK VESA driver. Most of the setup for the CDROM was defaults. Anyone have any ideas? Mikef mikef@rosemount.com
