CalArts' School of Music is beginning a new graduate major in composition emphasizing developments in integrated media technology for the arts. We are seeking an interdisciplinary artist/developer with significant accomplishments, knowledge of contemporary music, an interest in program building and a demonstrated commitment to both undergraduate and graduate level teaching for a full-time position. Position will begin as a visiting appointment. Job areas may include guiding students in developing tools necessary to create work with integrated computer media; aesthetics, history and literature of multi-media art; perception and arts languages; artistic critiques and lessons, administration and technical development of facilities and teaching in other areas of the School of Music and interdisciplinary arts curriculum, depending on expertise. High-level expertise and ability to program with the latest generation of integrated media software and hardware is essential. Ability to develop software and skill in performance production areas will be considered assets. Background in composition will be considered, but those with significant experience in the other arts are encouraged to apply. CalArts is an independent college with a strong commitment to the contemporary arts.
