Message-ID: Summary: Share setup costs to get CDROM's for $2.5 apiece. Keywords: CDROM Sender: news@highland.com Organization: Highland Digital, Inc., Palo Alto, CA Date: 20 Apr 1994 17:38:26 UTC Lines: 34 Hi, We would like to distribute our product on CDROM, but the setup costs make it uneconomic for a production run of a few hundred CD's. However, if two or three companies were to share the set-up costs, then it would be cleaner and less expensive than 1/4" tape. We need less than 20M, so there should be plenty of room. These figures are approximate, but for the sake of illustration: Set-Up charges: $2000 Cost for 1000 CD's: $1500 So two companies could get 500 CD's apiece for $3.5 each. or four companies could get 500 CD's apiece for $2.5 each. Less than 1/4 inch and easier to snail-mail. This seems like such a simple idea that there may already be such a co-op or company offering such a service, do you know of one? and are you interested in splitting the costs this way? (I know about CDWARE from Sun, but want the product sent to a select customer list, rather than 50,000 sysadmins).
