HFS CD-ROMs are little more than image copies of the original HFS formatted
hard disk, the main difference being that the driver descriptor map in sector
zero is cleared to prevent the Mac from trying to boot the original hard
disk driver off the CD. If you can connect your Mac SCSI disk to your Unix
box, you probably can use the Unix 'dd' command to create an image file of
the volume, and then zero out the first 512 bytes before downloading it to
the recorder.
