I think they put sand in those big cases to prevent people
from knocking them around <g>

Or like power amps, the bigger and heavier, the better. Make
you feel that you REALLY got something extra with the dough
you spent <g>

If you want slim, get an Apple CD300, super-slimline, made by
people who know aesthetic.  Works with any standard scsi.
Or take a look at Media Vision's RENO portable.
