First, this is a very early release of the Go plugin,
If you don't feel confortable with software experimentating,
rather use the very good cgoban (for unixes) or ... dunno which for other
OSes...

Then:

+ obviously you might want to edit color scheme :)
  (to edit/change the highlighting,... use the <save> button and edit the
   ~/.netplug/gorc and the /load)

+ Almost everything is sent unchanged to the go server,
  just "status #" triggers the graphical drawing/refresh of a Go game;
  to be used in case of doubt (specially at the scoring/end of game stage)
  It autodetects games/or observing, just use "observe #" or the match command
  to get a graphical display
