Creating Tree Data Templates

You might want to add certain data (such as project name, customer name, etc.) to every project you create. Creating the appropriate nodes manually every time is a pain. An easier way to do it is creating the nodes once and then selecting them and dragging them to the desktop. This will create a MagicTree XML file on the desktop. Next time when you create the project, select the file on the desktop, and either drag and drop it on the MagicTree node or copy and paste it into MagicTree.

OS notes: Dragging tree nodes to desktop works reliably on Mac OS X and Windows. On Linux it works on Gnome, but does not work on XFCE or KDE. Copying tree nodes to desktop only works on Windows. Dragging and copying files from desktop to MagicTree works on all tested operating systems. If your environment does not support copying and dragging files from desktop, you can still create a template and reuse it. Open a text editor, such as Mousepad. Copy nodes from MagicTree and pasted into the text editor. This will create XML text. Save the file. Now Yyou can drag or copy this file into MagicTree.
